The Weston Democrat was born on July 10, 1867, and it has been the leading newspaper in Lewis County ever since. This is the paper's 143rd year. It is the oldest continuously operated business in Lewis County. The paper has subscribers in every state in the Union and in several foreign countries.
The present owners are Robert and Eileen Billeter. They purchased the paper in 1992. Mr. Billeter worked on the editorial staff of The Pittsburgh Sun-Telegraph and The Pittsburgh Post Gazette for 35 years. The newspaper in the last 20 years has won dozens of advertising and editorial awards. The publishers consider the editorial page the soul of the newspaper, and The Democrat has a robust editorial page.
